About GCU Lahore
The British Raj initially approved the establishment of a central college in Lahore in 1856, with teachers from the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Dublin University HC, and Durham University serving as instructors. The college was established on January 1, 1864, as an affiliated college of Calcutta University, under the direction of Dr. Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner, a professor of Arabic and Islamic Law at King’s College London.
